The round wood piece measures 1.5 inch wide and around a 1/8 inch thickness. The design is a beautiful aqua segaiha design. This is one of my favorite designs in Japanese paper. The earrings have an almost 1.5 inch long nickel and lead- free brass kidney wire so the overall measure is around 3 inches long. The paper design of this piece is called Seigaiha (or sekaiha) which literally means "blue sea and waves". Seigaiha is a Japanese motif dating back to the 6th century. The water and waves symbolize power in resistance in Japanese culture. They also represent hope for happiness and long life.
