Chiyogami Round Pendant in Navy and Gold Sayagata Design with Chain
This handmade pendant is made of birch wood covered with Japanese chiyogami paper in a navy and gold sayagata pattern and finished off with a shiny resin. The wood piece measures 1.5 inches wide and around a 1/8 inch thickness. The pendant has a lead and nickel-free bail and comes with a 24 inch long chain.
The Sayagata is one of the oldest known symbols and used in many countries. In Japan it represents a wish for household prosperity and longevity. That is probably why it was commonly used on the silk of white kimonos in wedding ceremonies. You can also see this design on floor tiles and lots of fabrics and silk-screened paper.
Because of the paper and wood, I advise to always take your Sweet Space jewelry off before bathing or swimming. Also, please do not spray alcohol products like hairspray or perfume because it can damage the piece.
Due to the nature of the silk-screened paper the placement of the design may vary.
