Chiyogami Stud Earrings-Aqua Seigaiha
Stud earrings in an aqua color with a gold linear design. They are handmade with Japanese Chiyogami paper that is placed on a 1/2 inch circle laser cut birch wood. The piece is finished off with a layer of resin. The metal earring findings are of lead and nickel-free stainless steel and have a a nice tight ear back.
The paper design of this piece is called Seigaiha (or sekaiha) which literally means "blue sea and waves". Seigaiha is a Japanese motif dating back to the 6th century. The water and waves symbolize power in resistance in Japanese culture. They also represent hope for happiness and long life. I have seen this design in gold, black, red, and navy, but I think this one is by far my favorite, very muted and calming.
Because of the paper and wood, I advise to always take your Sweet Space jewelry off before bathing or swimming. Also, please do not spray alcohol products like hairspray or perfume near them because it can damage the piece.
